About the event
Ashley Elliott, Psy.D. (also affectionately known as Dr. Vivid) is a Doctor of Clinical Psychology located in Washington, DC. She has a passion for serving those who identify as a Black, Indigenous, Persons of Color, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. Dr. Elliott works as a clinician in private practice, a writer, motivational speaker, plant medicine educator and mental health/DEI consultant to create more culturally inclusive spaces.
Her specialties/clinical interests include: Her clinical interests include community mental health, client psychoeducation/health education, substance abuse treatment, harm reduction, group therapy, plant medicine, BIPOC centered issues, LGBTQIA+ centered issues, severe mental illness, mental health and technology, and the integration of non-traditional and artistic expression in therapy.
In effort to create more inclusive media spaces, Dr. Elliott collaborates with gamers, developers, social media users/influencers, and individuals in Web3 and the Metaverse to make sure platforms promote diversity and mental health awareness. She enjoys blending DEI and mental health awareness as a facilitator and consultant. Dr. Elliott maintains working partnerships with Kate Spade New York, Her Campus Media, The Boris Lawrence Henson Foundation, Maryland Department of Health, NAMI AAC, and HealthHIV. She has served as a Metaverse Interdisciplinary Advisory Board member for the JED Foundation, Raising Good Gamers, and Morgan Stanley Alliance for Children’s Mental Health. Dr. Elliott also serves as a workshop consultant for Take This, which is the oldest non-profit mental health organization providing comprehensive resources and support that are tailored for the unique needs of the game development community and embraces the diverse cultures of the game community.
Objectives
1) Identify three (3) mental health and wellness resource related barriers that social media engagement can help alleviate.
2) Demonstrate knowledge of four (4) ethical psycho-educational and/or marketing engagement methods.
3) Prepare a social media policy to be added to client intake and privacy documents.
4) Identify three (3) harmful and unethical content and engagement approaches.
5) Define and demonstrate understanding of the following terms: doxxing, shadow banning, two-factor authentication, & trolling.
Phoenix Wellness Services LLC is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. Phoenix Wellness Services LLC maintains responsibility for this program and its content. This training is designed for an advanced professional audience, building upon a completed doctoral program in psychology. There is no commercial support for the CE program, presentation, or instructor. Trainings are in compliance with The Americans with Disabilities Act, and we commit to providing reasonable accommodations, once notified (via phone, email, or in person) by any participant at least two (2) weeks prior to the workshop/webinar.
